Pastor David C. Winningham is a native of Akron, Ohio. He graduated
from Ellet High (Akron, 1969), Concordia College (Ann Arbor, 1971),
Concordia Sr. College (Ft Wayne, 1973), and Concordia Seminary (St
Louis, 1977).
He served a dual parish (Redeemer, Sudbury and St Mark's, Val Caron)
in Ontario, Canada, 1977-1981) before moving to Michigan to teach
Theology in a Lutheran High School. Dave served Our Saviour Lutheran
Church (Armada) for 12 1/2 years (1984-1996) and twice at Lutheran
High North (Macomb, 1981-84, 1996-2000). He served in the campus
ministry at University Lutheran Chapel in Ann Arbor for 6 years
(2000-¬2006).
He began his minister at Ascension September 10, 2006.
His areas of interest include worship and music; he plays piano,
trumpet, and guitar. While at Lutheran North, he coached boys
and girls soccer and was advisor to the ski club. He played 16 years
for the Anchor Bay men's soccer team (New Baltimore 1984-2000)
and with the Canton Celtics men's (over-50) soccer team. Dave
has
served
as a Counselor at 4 National Youth Gatherings, was a District
Counselor for LWML, and has served on various circuit and District
committees.
He is married to Linda (nee Meyer). She is a Registered Dietitian,
who has served as a nutritional consultant to various group
homes, taught a Nutrition class at Owens CC in Toledo, and currently
works for Genesee County Community Mental Health. Linda has
degrees
from
the University of Western Ontario (London) and Eastern Michigan/Masters
(Ypsilanti). Among her Church activities have been Board of
Education Chairman, Sunday School and Confirmation Teacher, and Altar
Guild.
They have two sons: Patrick (29) married to Katie
(Lutheran elementary school 3rd grade teacher at Emmaus Lutheran
School,
Indianapolis).
He's a world-traveler, organist, trombonist, and Concordia
University-Ann Arbor music education graduate, currently
Choral Director at
Indianapolis Lutheran High School in Indiana. Patrick and
Katie have two daughters:
Sophia (2 3/4) and Amelia (10 months)
Ryan (27) married to Amie (public elementary music education
teacher/currently teaching at Missouri School for the Blind).
He attended Concordia
University-Ann Arbor and graduated (with Amie) from Hope
College (Holland, MI) with a Theology and Music major.
He plays trumpet
and piano. Ryan will graduate in May (2009) from Concordia
Seminary, St. Louis.
